Cory’s review of Miscellaneous
May 3rd, 2007 by David Weinberger
Cory Doctorow’s review of Everything is Miscellaneous at BoingBoing is like the review I daydream about occasionally (= obsessively), except he explains my book better. Thank you, Cory. [Tags: everything_is_miscellaneous cory_doctorow reviews boingboing ]
Destruction of hierarchies is an idea whose time has come. There was a book recently called something like Messy Spirituality, with a similar idea about Christian growth and applications.
Then the Eastern mystics often speak of Western metaphysics always “setting one thing against another”.
Enemy combatants or terrorists? Pro journalist or crowdsourcing? All these stupid ironclad categories are very destructive and limiting. Krishnamurti spoke of “division” as the source of all evil.
Very excited about new book, David.
Then the Firesign Theatre’s “How Can You Be in Two Places At Once, when you’re nowhere at all?” LOL
The internet is destroying the outmoded, prejudiced categories, as you say.
Hierarchy includes “A Listers” vs. obscure bloggers.
…and Digg Dictator vs. Digg Facilitator. LOL
